The goal of the governments leaders is to eventually provide Universal Health Care (UHC) to all Kenyan citizens. Currently the NHIF is the main health insurer in Kenya, covering 16% of Kenyans, whereas the 32 private health insurers collectively cover a mere 1% of the Kenyan population. While the 16% number is considered low for a national average of coverage even in LMIC’s (Low to Middle Income Countries), the most troubling fact is that this 16% closely mirrors the percentage of public sector workers who are required to have NHIF insurance. This means that the general population is struggling to have health insurance at all. SUPER COVER is a social-welfare program that provides comprehensive Kenyan government-based health insurance to low-income families. Poor families need protection against the financial consequences of illness and injuries. For most families limited to manual labor and living in LMIC’s illness and injuries still present a permanent threat to their income earning capacity. Besides the direct cost of treatment and drugs, indirect cost for the missing labor for an ill mother has to be shouldered by their children. The SUPER COVER Health Insurance program is the only tool to financing health care and keeping children safe and free from child-labor. For an annual premium of $100 SUPER COVER provides comprehensive health insurance coverage for a widow and all her children of below 24 years of age living under her care. No deductibles and no copay whenever they visit public or selected private hospitals. $100 is most likely an amount that you could provide without changing your life or lifestyle. But $100 to a poor family that may earn $1.00 per day, or less, would be nearly impossible to accumulate. This is the easiest way for you to change lives in a program you can trust.
