From a Small Clinic to a Regional Hospital
RTC stands for Righteousness Through Christ. The ministry began in 2014 when Kenyan civil engineer Sam Otiano started helping vulnerable families obtain government health insurance. As the need continued to grow, he founded a small medical clinic in Homa Bay County to provide healthcare access for local families.
The original maternity ward was a simple sheet metal structure with extremely limited resources. Despite those challenges, hundreds of babies were delivered there each year.
In 2021, RTC Missions,Inc. was formally established in the United States as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Through partnerships, donations, medical mission teams, and community support, the RTC Mission Hospital rapidly expanded into a modern Level 4 hospital campus in just three and a half years.
Today the hospital includes surgical services, digital imaging, emergency care, dialysis treatment, maternal healthcare, and more.

The RTC Mission Hospital survived these challenges and continues serving patients every day due to generous support from U.S. donors, international foundation grants and Rotarians from North Texas, but the need continues to grow to provide direct, dollar for dollar help for our human family in Africa.

Building for the Future
Women’s Hospital Expansion

A modern maternal healthcare facility replaced the original sheet metal maternity ward and now provides safer care for mothers and newborns.
Lifeline Tower

This four-story tower will be the home of a new adult ICU, adult HDU, fully stocked emergency department, modern private wards and a cancer treatment department. Adding these service capabilities will be the giant step toward licensing as a Level 5 hospital. This step is critical for the sustainability of the RTC Mission Hospital because the facility will then become a referral hospital for the entire Homa Bay County, with a population of over 1,200,000 people. Within this larger population, there will be large numbers of patients with the financial means for paying for private hospital care that will sustain our hospital into the future.
Dialysis Center

The six-bed kidney dialysis center provides essential 24/7 treatment options previously unavailable for many local patients suffering from chronic kidney disease. There is a continuous needs for supplies including reagents to provide life-saving care even when the patients cannot pay.
